What is CBD Hemp Flower?

CBD hemp flower is the smokable bud of the hemp plant. CBD is found in the greatest abundance in the flower of the hemp plant and smokable CBD hemp flower is a premium-grade CBD source for your smoking pleasure.

The hemp plant can be grown indoor, outdoor or in greenhouses and is cared for with extreme attention in order to secure a premium crop. Once the CBD flower is harvested, it gets cured (or dried) before the buds get trimmed by hand (or sometimes machines) and packed for consumption.

Harvest of hemp flower usually takes place in October of every year in an event known as “Croptober”. Indoor growers may harvest multiple times per year since they “trick” the plants into faster flowering cycles and boost the hemp flower with powerful added nutrients.

The buds of industrial hemp look, smell and taste just like cannabis but they do not create any psychoactive effect in the consumer. Most consumers smoke hemp flower for the therapeutic benefits of the terpenes in hemp and the rich cannabinoid content.

Is It Legal To Buy And Smoke CBD Buds?

Hemp has been legal at a federal level in the U.S. since December 2018. Some states, however, try to prohibit the use of smokable hemp due its physical and aromatic likeness to cannabis and the difficulty it’s causing law enforcement in telling the two apart.

However, it is proving difficult for states to go against the federal regulations and many lawsuits against states are taking place right now. Compliant online retailers of hemp flower, like Green Unicorn Farms, can sell and ship hemp products to all 50 states.

In order to be compliant with federal law, the hemp plant needs to contain no more than .3% Delta-9 THC.

Does CBD flower make me high?

No. The “high” feeling that is associated with cannabis is caused by the delta-9 THC cannabinoid. To be classified as hemp, flower must contain 0.3% THC or less, which isn’t anywhere near enough to make you feel high.
It does however, help you feel relaxed and mellow. Depending on the terpene profile of your chosen premium hemp flower, you’ll get a different effect.

There are different flower strains of smokable hemp flower. We offer strains that are rich in CBD, CBD A, and CBG. CBG flower is gaining a lot of popularity for its unique effects compared to CBD flowers.

CBG stands for cannabigerol, and is known as the “precursor” of all the various cannabinoids.

CBG flower contains CBGA (cannabigerolic acid). And CBGA doesn’t behave like other cannabinoid acids which break down directly into a final component like CBD, CBN or THC.

Instead, CBGA is what the hemp plant uses to synthesize other cannabinoid acids. When decarboxylated (or heated), CBGA acts kind of like a parent cannabinoid acid and typically breaks down into THCA (tetrahydrocannibinolic acid) and CBDA (cannabidiolic acid).

The THCA in turn, transforms into THC, and the CBD A into CBD.

Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the most frequent questions that we receive from our customers. Please do remember that medical conditions should be treated by medical professionals and we at Green Unicorn Farms are not able to answer any questions that you may have regarding issues with sleep, pain, anxiety, stress or other physical or mental problems.

What Are Cannabinoids?

The most well-known parts of the cannabis plant (Cannabis Sativa) are tetrahydrocannabinol THC and CBD cannabidiol. These both come from the cannabinoids family.

Cannabinoids act as chemical compounds that connect to cannabinoid receptors in the human body, producing specific effects. The essential receptors are the CB1 and CB2 receptors, which help the brain and nervous system run smoothly.

Cannabinoid molecules mimic the body’s natural endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system uses endocannabinoids to regulate the body’s overall functioning, also known as homeostasis.

The most common cannabinoids in CBD rich hemp flower are CBD A, CBD, CBG and CBN.

What does strain mean?

Strains in flower products are the slight variations between one flower and another within the same family of plants.

A hemp strain is simply a variation of the plant that has a unique flavor profile, terpene profile and cannabinoid content. Although the variations may look very slight between the strains, the effects can differ greatly.

To make things easier, cannabis and hemp strains are split into three main groups. Indica, Sativa and Hybrid. simply put, Indica strains have terpene profiles that make you feel sleepy or relaxed, Sativas are uplifting and focusing and Hybrids are balanced blends.

We have created bundles that contain nighttime strains and daytime strains to make selecting easier for you.

When in doubt, look for the icons on the strain pages for indications of the effect, flavor and suggested use.

Why does it say that hemp is cannabis sativa?

Cannabis Sativa is the official name of the cannabis plant. Hemp is simply a name that was given to the industrial plant that contains less that (or equal to) .3% THC.

In layman terms, the cannabis plant is the psychoactive version of cannabis flower that is smoked for getting “high”. Cannabis flower has its own therapeutic effects and great benefits for some people but it is still not federally legal in the US.

Rest assured that even if it may say cannabis sativa on some places, Green Unicorn Farms does not sell cannabis flower but only legally compliant hemp.

Our flowers have no psychoactive effects since the level of THC is far too low to produce any.

Are there any side effects of smoking hemp buds?

If you experience any unwanted side effects when consuming our products you should stop consumption immediately.

Some common side effects include;

  • Feeling sleepy
  • increased appetite
  • dry eyes
  • dry mouth
  • Increased heart rate
