Exploring the Flexibility of Your Smokable Flower

The popularity of smokable flower is on the rise and it’s no surprise considering the benefits and flexibility it offers its users. Not only is smokable flower, arguably, the most enjoyable way to consume CBD, but it is also the best way to guarantee purity of product and consistent high quality.

Unlike vape cartridges, creams and oils, smokable CBD hemp flower can also be consumed in a variety of different ways. If you’re looking for more ways to use your buds then we’ve put some ideas together for you to try at home.

We have also put together a comprehensive CBD infographic on the topic here.

Different Ways to Smoke Your CBD

When you have some premium smokable hemp, the best way to experience the full aroma and taste is to smoke it. Here are some of the ways you can try smoking your hemp flower:

1 – Joints / Pre-Rolls

The most popular way of consuming smokable flower is to smoke it in the form of a joint. You can learn how to roll the perfect joint here, or if you feel that rolling your own is beyond you, then we also have CBD pre-rolls for sale on the site.

If you are located in a state where cannabis is legal, you can mix CBD and THC flower for a unique smoking experience.

2 – Pipe / Bong

Investing in a pipe or bong (or both!) will mean you can smoke your hemp flower without having to roll it into a joint first.

You don’t need to break the flower down as much before packing your pipe or bong either, so it saves on papers and time.

Pipes and bongs come in all different shapes and larger models can sometimes feel harsher your throat due to the amount of smoke they’re able to accumulate in the chamber. Some of the more sophisticated bongs, however, will filter and cool the smoke through one or more different comparments before it enters your lungs.

3 – Dry Herb Vape

You can also take a look at vape batteries available on the market that allow you to vape your hemp flower.

These electronic vaporizers have a small compartment in which you place a small (or large!) amount of smokable herb, which the device then heats to a precise temperature allowing the CBD and other compounds to turn into vapor ready for inhalation.

4 – Make Your Own CBD Oil

Making your own CBD oil is simpler than most people realize. You just need a little time and the right guide. The first thing you need to do is to decarboxylate your hemp flower by heating it to activate the CBD, to ensure you experience the full therapeutic benefits.

Lightly grind your hemp flower and spread it evenly on a baking tray. Bake at 215 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes to activate the cannabinoid compounds.

Combine an ounce of flower with two cups of your favorite oil (coconut or olive oil will work well for this purpose but avoid using hemp seed oil as it doesn’t handle heat very well) and heat on a LOW heat for around six hours or more (you can use a slow cooker is you have one).

If using a saucepan then you may need to add up to two or three cups of water to prevent the oil from burning.

Once the time is up then let it cool, strain the plant material out of the oil, and store it in a glass bottle or jar until you need to use it.

You can use your oil in cooking, or for sublingual dosing needs, and enjoy knowing exactly what’s in your extract.

5 – Make Your Own Edibles

You can also add your CBD flower into any of your favorite recipes! Many people choose to infuse fatty recipes, such as cakes and brownies, as the fat allows for optimal absorption into the body. You can use your CBD oil extraction to replace any recipe that uses butter by using ¾’s of the amount of oil, so if your recipe calls for 1 cup of butter, use ¾’s of a cup of oil.

If you’re making a slow-cooking recipe then you can also just grind up your flower and add it straight to the dish. The long, slow simmering time will activate the cannabinoids within your food.

If the recipe you want to enhance with CBD isn’t slow-cooked then you just need to decarboxylate your hemp flower first (in the oven as above) and add that straight into the dish along with any other herbs you are using.

Buying your CBD in it’s natural, original form allows for a world of flexibility when it comes to the different ways you can consume it.

Personally, we think smoking is the most enjoyable way of experiencing this aromatic and flavorful plant, but it’s not always possible to smoke and sometimes a more discreet method needs to be employed.
